Gašper Torkar: Accept the Risk and Continue
Four years after the debut EP Dreams of Others – featured by the critics and selectors at the BBC and Bandcamp Daily – the multifaceted artist Gašper Torkar presents his latest work.
The new album contains fragments from a variety of Torkar’s art works. Accept the Risk and Continue consists of compositions for theatre and performance art (Nots is from the contemporary performance Triadic Ballet), songs from various compilations (released by Mizuha and Kamizdat), an exercise in style from 2018 and an unreleased track.
Such a diverse context gives the album a special charm, at the same time successfully showcasing an evolving electronic music composer who readily accepts the risk and continues to surprise.

Zergon - DOLOS
DOLOS shaped concrete tetrapods, enormous sea structures for waves prevention, reflect the soul of modern brutalism and serve as one half of the conceptual background behind the first stand-alone release at Kamizdat by the Ljubljana based producer/sound artist Zergon. The other half of the conceptual background behind the name DOLOS is pointing at its mythological connotation, as Dolos was also the name of the Greek god of trickery. Linking these ideas suits well with Zergon’s years long research of analogue and modular devices. The result is an EP with four eloquent compositions in which Zergon highlights his skill in the deconstruction and combination of various genres of electronic music: techno, breakbeat and IDM.
Cover is a mixed media collage which uses elements of the sea, tetrapod form and stacking (the same principle tetrapods use). Colour structure is based on the light sea and sand where these structures are present.

Štiri leta po glasbenem prvencu Dreams of Others – ki so ga pohvalili glasbeni selektorji tako na BBC, na portalu Bandcamp Daily, v Mladini, na Radiu Študent in spletnem glasbenem portalu Odzven – svoj nov album predstavlja večstranski umetnik Gašper Torkar.
Novi album vsebuje fragmente iz novega poglavja njegovih umetniških dosežkov. Accept the Risk and Continue sestavljajo kompozicije iz gledaliških in umetniških predstav (Nots je iz predstave Triadni balet Jana Krmelja), skladbi iz kompilacij dveh založb (Typhaceae iz japonske Mizuha in Harlequin iz Kamizdat), vaja v slogu (Arboreal je potihem objavil pred tremi leti) in neobjavljena skladba BT.
Raznoliki konteksti dajejo albumu poseben dramaturški čar, ki ga Gašper Torkar znova postavlja v sodoben kontekst in dokazuje, da umetnost blesti tudi v času krize.

Zergon - DOLOS
Betonski tetrapodi oblike DOLOS, megatonske strukture za preprečevanje previsokega dviga morske gladine, zrcalijo duh sodobnega brutalizma in služijo kot del konceptualnega ozadja prve samostojne izdaje domačega glasbenega producenta in zvočnega umetnika Zergona pri založbi Kamizdat. Drugi del konceptualnega ozadja pa za imenom albuma zadeva njegovo antično-mitološko konotacijo: s tem imenom so namreč kronali grškega boga zvijač in spletk. Povezava teh idej združuje Zergonova večletna raziskovanja uporabe analognih in modularnih aparatov. Rezultat je kratkometražni album in štiri zgovorne kompozicije, v katerih zvočni umetnik pokaže svoje veščine na primeru razgradnje in kombiniranja določenih žanrov elektronske glasbe: tehna, breakbeata in IDM-a.
Naslovnica albuma je kolaž v mešani tehniki, ki uporablja elemente morja, strukturo tetrapoda in zlaganja (princip tetrapodov). Barvna lestvica bazira na svetlo modri barvi morja in barvi peska, kjer so te strukture prisotne.

Knjižica, ki je izšla ob izdaji za praznovanje Netlabel day-a 2021, ki obsega kompilacijo nove domače alternativne elektronske glasbe. 25+ umetnikov, 25 neizdanih komadov in več kot dve uri glasbe.
